The beef ban implemented in the state of Maharashtra is really welcome. Hope the ban just doesn't stay limited on files and papers but comes into real implementation.
There may be lot of hue and cry about this legislation coming into force from the so called 'social reformers'. But all of us are aware that beef is a impure food for spiritual development of an individual. Not just Hinduism but even Jainism and Zoroastrianism considers cow worship to be sacred. We find some references to the same in Judaism as well.
Recently beef has been made to silently enter our diet in various ways. One of the ways is non-veg cheese. We need to take care to stop this subliminal entry of beef in our food. In the same regard there are references pointing out to some well-known food-chains for using of animal fat instead of vegetable fat in frying of their foodstuffs.
These foodchains state the following very subtlety on their websites and try to cover-up the facts.
At this time, none of our menu items are certified as vegetarian or vegan. The oil our suppliers use to partially fry our World Famous Fries has a natural beef flavoring, which also contains hydrolyzed milk as a starting ingredient, added to enhance the taste. It’s important to note that, despite taking precautions, normal kitchen operations may involve some shared cooking and preparation equipment, areas and utensils, and there is a possibility for your food items to come in contact with other food products.
