Indian Ministry of Home
Affairs has recently stated that the violence in North East India has fallen by
85% in 17 years, 2017 being most peaceful year. The recent policy of the Indian
govt combining aggression with development has helped a lot in achieving this
success. Some important points to consider are -
(1) Avengeful surgical
strike in Myanmar by crossing the international border.
(2) The development & infra building in North East, especially in forward areas.
(3) Heavy casualties inflicted on both factions of NSCN by Indian armed forces.
(4) Death of NSCN (K) leader, S.S. Khaplang.
(5) Professional and mature handling of Foreign Relations with Bangladesh, Bhutan and Myanmar leading to arrest of many extremists and dismantling of their camps on foreign soil.
(6) Beginning of water transport in Brahmaputra.
(7) Starting of transport corridor with Bangladesh.
(8) The Naga Accord.
(9) Political negotiations with various rebel factions.
Hopefully this continues and North East sees a long-lasting peace and development in the times to come.
